Medijet® 1000, 1010, 1020

The function of this generator is to induce spontaneous breathing in neonatal infants by applying an adjustable jet constant excess pressure through the use of special connections to the nostrils.
Continuous positive airway pressure assists in the opening up of the immature lungs therefore allowing for improved gas exchange. It also helps to prevent the dangerous collapse of the alveolar and improves the overall function of the lung.
CPAP has been successfully used for several years, but has only been clinically researched during the 1990's. The results then showed that CPAP was effective in principle but was failing to achieve a constant positive pressure. The problem surrounding the velocity of the jet stream and the resistance in relation to amount and time had to be solved. To integrate these physical phenomena into the application, a new technical process was developed. (cf.:Läkartidiningen, Volym 90 No: 45 , 1993 ).
